When I was a kid I was a frequenter of Panda Express. I remember one day hanging out at the mall with my friend, each of us with a plate full of “Chinese” food and looking at the back of my soda cup, which read, “You ordered the orange chicken, didn’t you?” Yeah, I did. Of course I did. You can’t go to Panda Express and not order the orange chicken. Ok, flash forward to the Stacy of today, and I’m always looking for healthy alternatives to childhood pleasures. Enter this baked orange-glazed cauliflower dish…

Baked Halibut with Spiced Mango Purée & Cauliflower Rice
I don’t know how I came up with this flavor profile. I think I literally looked at the ingredients in my fridge and thought “hey, these will go together.” The only thing I had to run out and buy was the halibut. This dish could work with any white fish — or even chicken. Recommended wine pairing? Bubbles of course!
Pear, Prosciutto and Gruyère Flatbread
A super simple, fun appetizer or light lunch — I actually created this recipe using leftover ingredients in the fridge. But with a little time and a little love, I was able to create something that truly tastes gourmet. Bon Appétit!
PS See below the recipe for recommended wine pairings!
Chicken Roulade
It sounds fancy, but it doesn’t have to be. This chicken roulade recipe is so easy it could easily work as a mid-week meal. But serve it up with the right side dish and a glass of Chablis, and you’ve got something special for date night…Bon Appétit!
Event: Diablo Taster’s Dinner
Love learning about food and wine pairings? Then you may want to become the newest member of the Tasters Guild International — a US nationwide society of foodies/wine-lovers who gather together with their local chapters to geek out on all things culinary.
While wine tasting at this year’s SF Pinot Days, I was lucky enough to meet John Engstrom and Jim Lipman of California’s only living Tasters Guild chapter, the Diablo Tasters Guild located in the San Francisco East Bay Area. They were kind enough to invite me to one of their monthly get-togethers where they sync a local restaurant’s venue and cuisine with a California winery. This month the Guild featured food with an Italian flare from Buon Appetito in Fremont alongside some Spanish-inspired wine from Bodegas Paso Robles.
